Mrs. Jane Best
Teacher of the Year

The Chesapeake Career Center takes great pride in announcing that Mrs. Jane Best is our 2017-18 Teacher of the Year. She has worked at CCC for the past nine years, first teaching the Nurse Aide course and then Practical Nursing. Mrs. Best is a respected leader amongst her colleagues, and a dedicated teacher whose professional example inspires her students and colleagues daily. She is conscientious, intuitive, hard-working, and passionate about her work.

Mrs. Best is in her seventeenth year teaching. Currently in her fifth year as the Practical Nursing teacher, she successfully prepares students to pass their NCLEX-PN exam through differentiated instruction, practical experiences and genuine motivation. She has proven to be a strong teacher and an outstanding nurse. Mrs. Best demonstrates accurate knowledge of the nursing pedagogy and incorporates instructional strategies that reflect best practices. She has prepared students to attain success on state exams in Nurse Aide and Practical Nursing with an overall success rate ranging between 88 and 100%.

She is a positive asset to our faculty and brings jubilance at just the right moments with her uncanny ability to make people laugh. Highly regarded by her colleagues in and out of our building, Mrs. Best is a teacher leader who goes above what is expected to support her colleagues. She has led the Workplace Readiness initiative in our school by preparing the curriculum, supporting activities, and the development of common assessments to ensure that CCC teachers have the necessary materials to prepare their students for this assessment.

Mrs. Best is a true example of a teacher committed to the academic success of her students, as well as growing in her professional career while also helping others. She accomplishes responsibilities with great initiative and takes great pride in her work.
